The sandwich. In its perfect state, the bread is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the ingredients are fresh and seasonal and there is some luxury element to the entire thing. There is also mayonnaise, and cheese, and for some of you, bacon.
I read those articles that I find through Pinterest - the ones that tell you that you can have a healthy and delicious dinner on the table in under an hour, or even less than 30 minutes. But why do that when you can have the perfect sandwich in less than 15 minutes. This time of the year gets busier and busier for small business owners and sandwiches are the perfect way to eat a balanced meal when life is otherwise overwhelming.
What follows is a short (very short) list of sandwiches that I turn to at the end of a long day:
Avocado Toast with Smoked Salmon - Sprouted Rye
Peanut Butter, Banana and flax seed toast - Sprouted Wheat
Mix this one up with almond butter instead of peanut butter, add cinnamon, or use dates instead of banana.
Fig Jam, Arugula, Fontina
This one pairs especially well with meats like prosciutto, or try it with brie or taleggio instead of fontina.
Radish, Butter, Sea Salt
Try this one on sprouted rye toast instead of baguette to make it more substantial.
